CONSULTING

We empower individuals and organizations to create sustainable change through community-based and participatory research. We also offer workshops and presentations that help providers and educators meet the needs of diverse communities.

Presentations have included implementation of participatory research, arts-based inquiry, and qualitative data analysis. Community education has included topics such as post-traumatic growth, complex trauma in adolescents, sexual health, and whole health approaches to pain management.

DR. LAUREN SUAREZ

I am a licensed psychologist with a client-centered, evidence-based, and trauma-informed approach.  I work collaboratively in order to create a space where you feel empowered to grow through adversity. In sessions, we will explore ways to make meaning of difficult circumstances and overcome barriers to a fulfilling life.

I have worked extensively with survivors of complex trauma, including childhood abuse, military combat, and sex trafficking. I also work with clients who are adjusting to changes in their ability status due to injury, illness, or chronic pain. I have a deep appreciation for culture and work with a diverse range of people. My areas of specialization include post-traumatic stress, adjustment, chronic pain, and holistic health.

My theoretical orientation is integrative and relies primarily on Relational-Cultural Theory (RCT).  I am trained in several evidence-based approaches, including Prolonged Exposure (PE) for post-traumatic stress, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Chronic Pain (CBT-CP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Depression (ACT-D). I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Miami’s Counseling Psychology Program and completed my internship and postdoctoral training at the Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center. In addition, I am a registered yoga instructor (RYT-200).
